Use the visible name before the number sign, including spaces and capitalization.

02

Add the tagline

Add the 3-5 character tagline after #, such as NA1 or EUW.

A resolved account is taken. No account match means the exact ID appears available.

Build a valid Riot ID

Open Riot account settings →
Complete: Arcane Fox#NA1

Both parts are present and within the supported lengths.

Incomplete: Arcane Fox

A game name without its tagline cannot identify a Riot account.

Shared game names are possible

Arcane Fox#NA1 and Arcane Fox#EUW are different Riot IDs.

A result is not a reservation

Only Riot can confirm and save a new ID in your account.

One Riot ID across games

Riot ID is the account identity used across Riot services, including League of Legends and VALORANT. Your in-game experience may also show game-specific information that this account lookup does not expose.

What the result means

  • Taken: Riot returned an account for the exact game name and tagline.
  • Available: no account matched across Riot routing regions at lookup time.
  • Invalid: the ID is incomplete or outside the accepted format.
  • Error: Riot could not complete the lookup; retry later.

Riot ID questions

What is checked, what is not, and where to claim a name.

What is a Riot ID?

A Riot ID is the game name and tagline shown as GameName#Tagline. The full combination identifies an account across Riot games such as League of Legends and VALORANT.

How does the Riot Games Name Checker work?

NameCheckup sends the exact game name and tagline to Riot Account-V1 through the official Riot Games API. A matching account means the Riot ID is taken. No match means it appears available, but Riot confirms availability only when you save the ID.

Do I need to include the tagline?

Yes. A game name alone is not a complete Riot ID. Enter both parts with a number sign, for example ArcaneFox#NA1.

Can two players have the same Riot game name?

Yes. Players can share the same game name when their taglines differ. The complete GameName#Tagline combination must be unique.

Does an available result reserve the Riot ID?

No. The result is a live lookup, not a reservation. Another player may claim the ID, and Riot can reject names under its own naming policies.

Where can I change my Riot ID?

Sign in at account.riotgames.com and open Riot ID in account management. Riot controls the current eligibility and cooldown rules.

Is NameCheckup affiliated with Riot Games?

No. NameCheckup is an independent tool that uses the official Riot Games API. Riot Games, League of Legends, and VALORANT are trademarks of Riot Games, Inc.

Carry the name beyond the match

Check the game name across streaming, social, community, and domain platforms before you settle on it.
